Monday, November 7

  • Sub-contractor GFL will be doing bulk excavating. There will be 15 trucks each doing 5 rounds of hauling, entering and exiting at the 1 The Esplanade gate, just west of Scott Street.

    • The trucks will enter from eastbound from Yonge Street, travel just west of the Esplanade gate toward Scott Street, then reverse  into the site to pick up the excavated bulk. The trucks will then pull out and exit east along The Esplanade.
    • There will be short-term impacts to vehicular and pedestrian traffic while the trucks are entering and departing the site.

Tuesday, November 8

  • Bulk excavating should be complete at 1 The Esplanade on Wednesday, November 9.  
  • Following the excavation work, sub-contractor, Deep Foundation, will start the first row tie back installation. An update on will be provided once information is available.
  • Paid Duty Police Officer is on-site daily from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm daily to assist with traffic control.

  • No activity is scheduled for Monday at 1 The Esplanade.

Tuesday, October 25

  • Sub-contractor GFL will be removing bulk from the site. There will be 15 trucks each doing 5 rounds of hauling, entering and exiting at the 1 The Esplanade gate, just west of Scott Street. 

Wednesday, October 26

  • Sub-contractor GFL will be removing bulk from the site. There will be 15 trucks each doing 5 rounds of hauling, entering and exiting at the 1 The Esplanade gate, just west of Scott Street.

Thursday, October 27

  • Sub-contractor GFL will be removing bulk from the site. There will be 15 trucks each doing 5 rounds of hauling, entering and exiting at the 1 The Esplanade gate, just west of Scott Street.
Friday, October 28
  • Sub-contractor GFL will be removing bulk from the site. There will be 15 trucks each doing 5 rounds of hauling, entering and exiting at the 1 The Esplanade gate, just west of Scott Street.
NOTES:
  • A Paid Duty Police Officer is on-site daily from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm daily to assist with traffic control.

Update for 1 The Esplanade – October 18 – 22

As of Tuesday, October 18, GFL Excavating will start bulk excavating at 1 The Esplanade.

This work is required to create the space for the foundation for the Backstage condominium and the underground parking for the L Tower.

There will be seven dump trucks each doing five loads during day. This work will have short-term but significant impacts on pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area of Scott and The Esplanade during the work day. The construction management team apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please Note: The bulk excavating is schedule to get underway this week. Once it is in full operation, there will be high impact on traffic at Scott Street and The Esplanade due to a large number of dump trucks coming to and leaving the site. At this time there remains no firm schedule. This site will be updated as soon as this information becomes available.

This is the current construction schedule for 8 The Esplanade – L Tower and 1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage for the week of September 19 – 23, 2011.

Monday, September 19

8 The Esplanade – L Tower

  • There will be a 72M concrete pour which is not expected to go past 7:00 pm

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling caissons and piles.
  • There will be 10 loads of concrete accessing The Esplanade.
  • Deep Foundation has schedule an 85 foot steel pile delivery for the afternoon at approximately  2:00 pm.
    • There will be some temporary impact on vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area of Scott Street and The Esplanade.

Tuesday, September 20

8 The Esplanade – L Tower

  • There will be a 45M concrete pour which is not expected to go past 7:00 pm

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling caissons and piles.
  • There will be 10 loads of concrete accessing The Esplanade.

Wednesday, September 21

8 The Esplanade – L Tower

  • No concrete pour is scheduled as of posting date – September 18, 2011.

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling caissons and piles.
  • There will be 10 loads of concrete delivered throughout the day.
  • GFL Excavating will be removing spoils from the site: 4 trucks taking 16 loads.

NOTE 1: Several daily deliveries throughout the week with little or no impact on traffic.
NOTE 2. A Paid Duty Police Officer is on-site daily from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. A security guard on site from 4:00 pm – 6:00 am daily.

June 27 – 30 – Temporary Street Occupation

This coming week —  Monday, June 27 through Thursday, June 30 the Dominus construction team will continue the installation of a self climbing form-work protection system and conduct related work on the L Tower, 8 The Esplanade.

Due to the amount and size of the materials that need to be hoisted over the roadway, construction management has again applied for and received a Temporary Street Occupation Permit from the City of Toronto, Transportation Services — Permit Number 53972402– to occupy the eastbound lane of The Esplanade between Yonge Street and Scott Street.

The time period covered by this permit is as follows:

  • Monday, June 27 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
  • Tuesday, June 28 from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
  • Wednesday, June 29 from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
  • Thursday, June 30 from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm

NOTE: One Paid Duty Officer is required for vehicular and pedestrian traffic control.
