City of Toronto Storm Water Work Yonge & The Esplanade – October 11 – 13

Please Note: 

    We have been advised that City of Toronto contractor OJCR will be working at Yonge Street and The Esplanade starting Friday night, October 11 through to Sunday, October 13, on storm water connections. We anticipate that there may be disruptions to traffic flow and possibly pedestrian access to The Esplanade from Yonge Street.

  • No work is scheduled for the Backstage site between December 22, 2012 and January 1, 2013.
  • No work is scheduled for the L Tower site between December 22, 2012 and January 1, 2013.
  • We have been advised that the City of Toronto’s contractor — OJCR Construction — will not be working between December 22, 2012 and January 6, 2013 and will resume water main work on The Esplanade  on January 7, 2013.

    Backstage Construction Schedule – December 17 – December 21

    • GFL Excavating will be setting up long reach and will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take fourteen (14) loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. **
    • OJCR will be tying in water lines on the Esplanade.

    Tuesday, December 18

    • GFL Excavating will not be removing material. They will be operating the hydraulic breaker and preparing material, this will cause significant noise during construction hours.
    • OJCR will be tying in water lines on the Esplanade.

    Wednesday, December 19

    • GFL Excavating will not be removing material. They will be operating the hydraulic breaker and preparing material.
    • OJCR will be tying in water lines on the Esplanade.

    Thursday, December 20

    • GFL Excavating will be using the long reach and will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take fourteen (14) loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. **

    Friday, December 21

    Continuing Sanitary Sewer & Water Main work on The Esplanade 

    City of Toronto contractor — OJCR Construction — continues water main work on The Esplanade between Yonge Street and Scott Street. 

    1. Pedestrian traffic will remain open. 
    2. Eastbound Vehicular Traffic may be closed during work hours. 
    3. We have advised the City of complaints we have received in respect to their work.

    Sanitary Sewer & Water Main UPDATE

    November 29 UPDATE – Sanitary Sewer & Water Main work on The Esplanade 

    The City of Toronto’s subcontractor — OJCR Construction — has made the connection with the Sanitary Sewer and should complete this part of the work by this Friday, November 30. Then the connection of the water mains will take place next week with an anticipated completion date of Wednesday, December 5. The work on the storm sewer connection across Yonge Street should start on Thursday, December 6.

    Toronto Water has advised us that in order to complete the work the City’s contractor — OJCR Construction — will require vehicular traffic closure on The Esplanade between Yonge Street and Scott Street. Traffic will be re-opened at the end of each work day. They will maintain pedestrian traffic through area at all times.

    1. Pedestrian traffic will remain open. 
    2. Eastbound Vehicular Traffic will be closed during work hours.

    We have been advised that City of Toronto’s subcontractor — OJCR Construction — will begin sanitary sewer and water-main work on The Esplanade on  Wednesday, November 28. We have been advised that:

    1. Pedestrian traffic will remain open. 
    2. Eastbound Vehicular Traffic will be closed from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

    • CANCELLED A large backhoe (a “long reach”) will be delivered under police escort to the site at midday. There will be temporary disruptions to traffic on Front Street East, Scott Street and The Esplanade. 

    Friday, November 30

    • CANCELLED Set-up of the long-reach on site

    Sanitary Sewer & Water Main work to begin November 28

    UPDATE – Sanitary Sewer & Water Main work to begin on The Esplanade Wednesday, November 28, 2012

    We have been advised that the City of Toronto’s subcontractor — OJCR Construction — will begin sanitary sewer and water-main work on The Esplanade, between Yonge Street and Scott Street, on Wednesday, November 28. OJCR will be distributing notices to 25 The Esplanade and The London on The Esplanade. 

    Toronto Water has advised us that in order to complete the work the City’s contractor — OJCR Construction — will require vehicular traffic closure on The Esplanade between Yonge Street and Scott Street. Traffic will be re-opened at the end of each work day. They will maintain pedestrian traffic through area at all times.

    1. Pedestrian traffic will remain open. 
    2. Eastbound Vehicular Traffic will be closed during work hours.

    Update on Water Main / Sewer Work at 1 The Esplanade

     UPDATE

    The City of Toronto’s subcontractor — OJCR Construction — is expected to begin sanitary sewer and water-main work on The Esplanade, between Yonge Street and Scott Street, as soon as November 27th pending approval by Transportation Services and Councillor McConnell.

    Toronto Water has advised us that the work will last approximately 2 weeks (weather permitting). In order to complete the work the City’s contractor — OJCR Construction — will require traffic closure on The Esplanade directly in front of 1 The Esplanade. Traffic will be re-opened at the end of each work day. They will maintain pedestrian traffic through area at all times.

    When we have more detailed information it will be posted here. 

    Water & Sanitary Drain Work on The Esplanade

    Water & Sanitary Drain Work on The Esplanade – City Contractor is applying for a road closure on The Esplanade.

    The Construction Management Team has been advised late today that City of Toronto contractor OJCR Construction is planning to install water connections, sanitary drain connections and storm water connections at 1 The Esplanade (Backstage) next week.

    This would involve OJCR Construction closing the Esplanade for a up to a week to dig and make connections. The affected area would be between the western entrance to the Toronto Parking Authority garage and Yonge Street.

    The Construction Management Team has been advised that OJCR plans to start work on Wednesday October 24 pending approval of their application for a road closure permit.

    The work is required as part of construction but its scheduling is in the hands OJCR Construction and the City of Toronto.

    We have advised the City Councillor’s Office. More information should be available on Monday.
