  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Tuesday, August 21

  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Wednesday, August 22

  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Thursday, August 23

  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Friday, August 24

  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

NOTES: 

* Dump truck frequencies are dependent on road and traffic conditions and the amount excavation materials at any given time on the site.

Construction activities are dependent on whether.

A Paid Duty Police Officer is on-site   daily Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm daily to assist with traffic control.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The Esplanade reopened on August 13th to Eastbound vehicles between Yonge Street and Scott Street and pedestrians Eastbound and Westbound between Yonge Street and Scott Street.

Monday, August 13

  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Tuesday, August 14

  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Wednesday, August 15

  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Monday, August 6 – Civic Holiday

Tuesday, August 7

  • Sub-contractor, C & M McNally boring the tunnel.
  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Wednesday, August 8

  • Sub-contractor, C & M McNally boring the tunnel.
  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

Thursday, August 9

  • C & M McNally removing Tunnel Boring Machine
  • There will be significant impact to The Esplanade and surrounding streets due to the setup of a 500 ton crane, support semis and 130 foot long float to take away the Tunnel Boring Machine. There will be a police escort for the float as it leaves the site.

Friday, August 10

  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

  • The 30 day road closure of The Esplanade from Scott Street to Yonge Street remains in effect.

Monday, July 30

  • Sub-contractor, C & M McNally boring the tunnel.
  • The tunnel connects the P4 parking level on the Backstage site at 1 The Esplanade with the L Tower. All L Tower residents will use this private tunnel to access their parking spaces which will be located underneath the future Backstage condominium.  
  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 14 loads each, for a total of eighty-four (84) loads. *

  • Sub-contractor, C & M McNally boring the tunnel.

Backstage Construction Schedule – July 21 – 27

Saturday, July 21

  • Site preparation work for the tunnel boring may continue today depending on contractor availability. 

Monday, July 23

  • Mobile crane delivery and supporting equipment will be delivered to the site and installed commencing after 9:00 am 
  • Continuing key slot digging and preparation work in advance of the tunnel boring will continue on site.

Tuesday, July 24

  • Continuing key slot digging and preparation work in advance of the tunnel boring will continue on site.
  •  GFL Excavating will haul excavate from the site as required.

Wednesday, July 25

  • The float arrives with the tunnel boring machine under police escort. It is expected to arrive on site late morning or midday depending on traffic conditions through the city.
  • Placing the tunnel boring machine into operational position, site set-up and related work will occupy most of the day.

Thursday, July 26 – REVISED

  • Delayed by Wednesday night rain storm: Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 12 -13 loads each, for a total of seventy-two to seventy-four (72 – 74) loads.
  • Tunnel boring delayed by rain storm. Pumping out water from the site. 

Friday, July 27 – REVISED

  • Tunnel Boring Machine testing.
  • Subcontractor, GFL Excavating will be removing material from the site: six (6) dump trucks will take 12 -13 loads each, for a total of seventy-two to seventy-four (72 – 74) loads.

NOTES: 

Construction activities are dependent on whether and delivery times and frequencies are dependent on road and traffic conditions.

A Paid Duty Police Officer is on-site   daily Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm daily to assist with traffic control.
