Backstage Construction Update – July 25 – August 1, 2016

This is a construction update for Backstage Condominium, 1 The Esplanade, July 25 – August 1, 2016

The installation of porcelain tile on the west tower fins reached the 9^th floor last week and will continue moving up the tower this week.  Crews are continuing to place brackets and insulation on the east side of the tower. Caulking is underway on the north face of the podium.

Glass and frames are began being replaced at the south east corner of the 5^th and 6^th floors last week and will continue this week. This repairs areas of minor damage from the winter podium deck fire.  This work will take 2 weeks to complete.

This week crews will be moving the equipment from the west side to the east, near Green P entrance and commence working to install limestone cladding on that face of the podium.

Inside the building amenity areas are being finished; tiles are being installed in the washrooms and change rooms for the pool.

The next round of suites are getting prepared for move-ins with a new round of inspections scheduled to be completed in the coming week.

Backstage Construction Update – July 16 – 24, 2016

This is a construction update for Backstage Condominium, 1 The Esplanade, July 16 – 24, 2016

Backstage construction faced some slight delays in the past week as a result of the heavy rain and extreme heat. To help make up for this, work crews will be coming in earlier within permitted construction work hours.

This week and next prep work for the east side porcelain tile panel-backing continues to progresses with on the east side. Work crews have been measuring and aligning their assemblies to be ready for the final tile installation.

Installation of porcelain tile on the west side of the tower is making steady progress and continues through next week and beyond until the tile reaches the top of the tower fins.

The north face of the podium also continues to progress.  This week and next, crews are installing some of the special cut pieces that will complete the facade.

Other work that is ongoing includes: applying finishes to the balcony floors, and applying finishes to floors on the 7^th and 6^th amenity levels.

Suite inspections are continuing for the remaining unfinished “Hoist Suites”(east tower), and some of the unfinished suites on the amenity levels (7^th and 6^th floors).

Backstage Construction Update – July 9 – 15, 2016

This is a construction update for Backstage Condominium, 1 The Esplanade, July 9 – 15, 2016

This week and next the mast climber on the east side of the tower is being completed. Installation of porcelain tile on the east side will commence this coming week.  Rain on July 7 and 8 slowed down work on the installation of limestone and stucco cladding on the podium and porcelain tile on the west side of the tower. The construction management team expects exterior work to pick up, depending on weather conditions, next week. 

The next round of suites are being readied for inspections over the next week. There will be more occupancies over the next 10 days, so move-ins are expected over the weekend and next week.

Work on the main lobby is progressing. The installation of mirror wall framing is on the ground floor is now complete and the backing is being installed over the next few days.
