L Tower construction information 8 The Esplanade – L Tower December 21, 2015 – January 1, 2016.

The exterior tower crane remains up as the construction management team await the delivery of the new derrick that will be used to set the permanent maintenance platform in place at the top of the L Tower. We therefore expect the tower crane to remain in place into January. Over the holidays some move-ins may occur and some ongoing suite finishing work will occur.  This is our final information post of 2015.

This is the construction schedule for 1 The Esplanade, Backstage condominium – for December 19, 2015 – January 1, 2016

Exterior work on the podium, suite finishing and on-site housekeeping are the focus of work at Backstage prior over the holidays with the site closed for Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and limited activity in between the statutory holidays. This is our final post of 2015.

Backstage Construction Update – December 12 – 18

This a construction update for 1 The Esplanade, Backstage condominium – for December 12 – 18, 2015.

The Hoist (external construction elevator) was removed last week. Work continues on the exterior podium. Suite finishing will continue through the coming weeks.

L Tower construction information 8 The Esplanade – L Tower December 12 – 19, 2015.

Finishing work continues on the remaining unoccupied interior suites. Move-ins continue via the Yonge Street service entrance featuring the “turntable” that permits trucks to enter and be turned for ease of unloading and exiting safely back onto Yonge Street. The exterior tower crane remains up and we will have a status update on on Monday, December 21; please check back with us then.

Backstage Construction Update – December 5 – 11

This a construction update for 1 The Esplanade, Backstage condominium – for December 5 – 11, 2015.

The Hoist (external construction elevator) will be completely removed by Tuesday. Installation of of patio doors and windows in the suites adjacent to the hoist will be completed this coming week. Installation of the insulating membrane on the north and east faces of the podium will continue this coming week. Please check back for updates during the coming week.

Update for L Tower – December 4 – 7, 2015

UPDATE for 8 The Esplanade – L Tower December 4 – 7, 2015.

  • The first section of  temporary derrick at the top of the L Tower was removed successfully this morning, Thursday, December 3. The remaining sections are scheduled to lifted down by the large tower crane on Friday and/or Monday.

  • Barring high winds or inclement weather, the removal of the temporary derrick should be completed on Monday, December 7. We currently expect that the last section of the derrick will be lowered down between 10:00 AM and Noon on Monday.  
  • As sections our lowered, sections of the north sidewalk between Scott Street and Yonge will be temporarily closed to ensure public safety; pedestrians may use the south side of The Esplanade.

Update for L Tower – December 3, 2015

UPDATE for 8 The Esplanade – L Tower December 3, 2015.

  • The temporary derrick (small crane unit) at the top of the L Tower will be removed starting after 7:00 am Thursday, December 3.
  • The derrick is not functional and needs to be removed. The large tower crane will be used to lower it in sections.
  • As sections our lowered, sections of the north sidewalk between Scott Street and Yonge will be temporarily closed to ensure public safety; pedestrians may use the south side of The Esplanade.
