This is the construction schedule for 1 The Esplanade, Backstage condominium – for September 26 – October 2, 2015.

Material deliveries and interior suite work are the focus this week at Backstage as more floors get closer to having their suites drywalled, kitchens and washrooms installed.

L Tower September 26 – October 2 2015

8 The Esplanade – L Tower Saturday, September 26 – October 2, 2015.

The external crane at the L Tower (seen below) has one more major job to do, lifting a temporary crane apparatus  to the top of the building. Once there, the temporary crane will be used to put the permanent window washing platform in place. When this work is completed the large tower crane will be taken down. We will be providing updates on this here as information becomes available.

Backstage Construction Schedule September 19 – 25, 2015

This is the construction schedule for 1 The Esplanade, Backstage condominium – for September 19 – 25, 2015.

REMINDER as posted last week, this Saturday September 19:

  • Resurfacing work will occur on The Esplanade between Yonge Street and the Toronto Parking Authority garage entrance west of Scott Street, along both the south north curbs.
  • NOTE: The north sidewalk along The Esplanade from Scott Street to Yonge Street remains open for pedestrian use.
  • As well the usual interior suite work and construction housekeeping will occur throughout the day from 9:00 am.

8 The Esplanade – L Tower Saturday, September 19 – 25, 2015.

Please Note: The north sidewalk along The Esplanade from Yonge to Scott Street will remain open this weekend as asphalt work occurs on south side at Backstage on Saturday, September 19.  – Please click here for more detail.

Backstage Construction Schedule September 12 – 19, 2015

This is the construction schedule for 1 The Esplanade, Backstage condominium – for September 12 – 19, 2015.

NOTE: The trench dug along the northern perimeter of  the backstage site to permit removal of the remains of the construction caisson wall will be filled in on Monday September 14. Nine (9) concrete trucks will provide the required concrete to fill in the trench. The existing concrete sidewalk in front of Backstage will be removed over the course of the next week and replaced on a temporary basis with asphalt.

The L Tower’s large external crane has one more big job to do, raising and lowering the temporary crane to the top of the building. The temporary crane (as noted above) will be used to lift the permanent window washing platform into place.

L Tower September 5 – 11 2015

8 The Esplanade – L Tower Saturday, September 5 – 11, 2015.

The long delayed Sony Centre northwest plaza, which the L Tower project provided funds should be underway soon. As we’ve noted before, the plaza designed by Claude Cormier + Associés  (click here for the design page) is the subject of a column by Christopher Hume in yesterday’s Toronto Star (see excerpt below). We look forward to work starting on it this fall transforming the now rather barren site into an exciting public amenity.
