This is the construction schedule for 1 The Esplanade, Backstage condominium – for August 29 – September 4, 2015.

NOTE: Please note that temporary crane work and cladding work continues at Backstage tower Monday, August 31 through Wednesday September 2.

The mobile crane will be active on Monday, August 31, necessitating the closure of the eastbound traffic lane from Yonge Street and the south side pedestrian route. Permit Access Mast 8 days – August 25 – September 2

For the balance of Monday – Wednesday, it is expected that the traffic lane will be open and pedestrians will be able to use the south side walkway. The north sidewalk remains open 24/7 between Scott and Yonge.

  • HVAC material delivery in the morning after 7:00 am.

L Tower August 29 – September 4 2015

8 The Esplanade – L Tower Saturday, August 29 – September 4, 2015.

The L Tower makes an iconic gateway marker to the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood. New streetscapes are being enjoyed by local residents and visitors. While more exterior finishing remains they are close to their final state. Inside the L Tower units are being completed weekly, as new residents continue to move-in via Yonge Street. The Tower Crane remains up through September, we will be updating this site when plans for its take down are finalized.

Backstage update August 24

UPDATE August 24, 2015

The partial road closure was off to a successful start this Monday morning. While the eastbound traffic lane from Yonge Street east to the Toronto Parking Authority garage entrance and exit was closed, pedestrian access to Yonge Street was unimpeded along the north sidewalk beside the L Tower and the Sony Centre. 

The City of Toronto permits (see links below) for the road closure allow the eastbound traffic lane to be closed from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm daily on weekdays through September 2, every effort will be made to re-open the traffic lane prior to rush hour when feasible.

Backstage Construction Schedule August 22 – 28, 2015

This the construction schedule for 1 The Esplanade, Backstage condominium – for August 22 – 28, 2015.

NOTE: Please note that temporary crane work and cladding work on the Backstage tower will be occurring from Monday, August 24 through Wednesday September 2.

The road closure will occur only on weekdays and will affect the eastbound traffic lane between Yonge Street and the east entrance to the Toronto Parking Authority garage and the south side pedestrian walkway.

Pedestrians will have full use of the north sidewalk on The Esplanade from Scott Street to Yonge Street.
Monday August 24 is expected to be a full day closure from 7 am to as late as 7 pm. The balance of the time from August 25 through September 2 it is expected the eastbound traffic lane will be open for the afternoon rush hour.

L Tower August 22 – 28 2015

8 The Esplanade – L Tower Saturday, August 22 – 28, 2015.

The completed sidewalk on the north side of The Esplanade will provide the pedestrian access between Scott Street and Yonge next week as the eastbound traffic lane and the south side sidewalk are closed August 25 – September 2 (weekdays only) to permit crane and cladding work on the Backstage tower next door. 

Inside the L Tower units are being completed every day as new residents continue to move-in. The Tower Crane remains up through summer.

L Tower August 8 – 14 2015

8 The Esplanade – L Tower Saturday, August 8 – 14, 2015.

We take a look back four years just to show the contrast of the L Tower site from a few floors above grade then to its full height today.

Interior work on suite finishes continues; as do regular move-ins of new residents.The Yonge Street Esplanade sidewalks are substantially complete. The Tower Crane remains up through summer. We look forward to work on the Sony Centre west plaza getting underway in the fall. Just a reminder that work on Scott Street is part of the City of Toronto’s work to enhance the wast and north sides of the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.
