Apology & Clarification re Early Work on Saturday March 1
March 3, 2014 Leave a comment
Please note that on Saturday, March 1 a concrete pour for the fourth floor slab at Backstage, 1 The Esplanade, was scheduled to begin at 9:00 am. Without the knowledge or approval of Construction Management, the forming subcontractor had their crew begin work that caused noise on the site shortly after 7:00 am. The Construction Manager for Backstage apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused and assures that the forming subcontractor had been specifically instructed not to start any noise-making work until 9:00 am.
When a Construction Manager arrived on site at 8:15 am he had all noise-making work cease and it did not resume until after 9:00 am, as permitted by the City of Toronto’s Construction Noise by-law.
As the forming subcontractor’s crew was working on the set-up for a concrete pour, which are permitted to run outside the the City of Toronto’s Construction Noise Hours, they may well have thought starting early on Saturday was OK. However, as noted above, the forming subcontractor had been expressly instructed not to start any noise-making work until 9:00 am. Because of events on March 1, 2014, future Saturday work at Backstage is under review.
