This is the current construction schedule for 8 The Esplanade – L Tower and 1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage for the week of July 25 through July 30, 2011. [Updated July 29.]

Monday, July 25

8 The Esplanade – L Tower 

  • There will be a 36M concrete pour which is not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm
  • Several material and supply deliveries will occur between 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage 

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling caissons.
  • There are eight (8) concrete truck deliveries scheduled.

Tuesday, July 26

8 The Esplanade – L Tower 

  • There will be a 7:00 am rebar (steel) delivery to the site.
  • There is no concrete pour scheduled as of the posting date, July 24.
  • Several material and supply deliveries will occur between 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage 

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling caissons.
  • There are eight (8) concrete truck deliveries scheduled.

Wednesday, July 27

8 The Esplanade – L Tower 

  • There will be a 7:00 am rebar (steel) delivery to the site.
  • There is no concrete pour scheduled as of the posting date, July 24.
  • Several material and supply deliveries will occur between 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage 

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling caissons.
  • There are eight (8) concrete truck deliveries scheduled.
  • There will be a large steel delivery: Deep Foundation, has scheduled an oversized delivery of steel piles 85 feet long. The load will come to The Esplanade gate.
    • Because it is an oversized load the truck delivering it will leave Deep Foundation’s yard at 9:00 am under police escort and make its way to the site via Jarvis St, west across The Esplanade toward Yonge Street.
    • Unfortunately, during delivery there will be a significant impact on vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the vicinity of 1 The Esplanade. This is expected to occur between approximately 10 am and 11 am.

Thursday, July 28

8 The Esplanade – L Tower 

  • The concrete pour scheduled for today has been cancelled.
  • Several material and supply deliveries will occur between 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking + Backstage 

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling caissons.
  • There are eight (8) concrete truck deliveries scheduled.

Friday, July 29

8 The Esplanade – L Tower 

  • CANCELLED There will NOT be a 180M concrete pour which may go beyond 7:00 pm (as of 7/29/11) – Rescheduled to Tuesday August 2.
  • Several material and supply deliveries will occur between 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

Scheduled construction activity for 1 The Esplanade–L Tower parking garage and Backstage condo–July 18 through July 22.

Monday, July 18

Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation has 4 semi-trailer truck deliveries at The Esplanade gate. During these deliveries there will be a significant impact on pedestrian and vehicular traffic movement on The Esplanade between Scott Street and Yonge Street.

Tuesday, July 19

Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be starting caisson wall drilling. There will be up to six concrete deliveries into the site at The Esplanade gate. During these deliveries there will be a moderate impact on pedestrian and vehicular traffic movement on The Esplanade between Scott Street and Yonge Street.

Wednesday, July 20

Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling the caisson wall. There will be up to six concrete deliveries into the site at The Esplanade gate. Deep Foundation will also be delivering one load of steel pile on a semi-trailer truck. During these deliveries there will be a moderate impact on pedestrian and vehicular traffic movement on The Esplanade between Scott Street and Yonge Street.

Thursday, July 21

Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling the caisson wall. There will be up to six concrete deliveries into the site at The Esplanade gate. During these deliveries there will be a moderate impact on pedestrian and vehicular traffic movement on The Esplanade between Scott Street and Yonge Street.

Friday July 22

Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling the caisson wall. There will be up to six concrete deliveries into the site at The Esplanade gate. During these deliveries there will be a moderate impact on pedestrian and vehicular traffic movement on The Esplanade between Scott Street and Yonge Street.

Saturday, July 16

Sub-contractor, Premform will loosen form bolts and do housekeeping on site from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

No crane work is scheduled.

Monday, July 18

No concrete pours are scheduled.

Tuesday, July 19

There will be a 36M concrete pour starting at 1:00 pm, which is not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm. 

Wednesday, July 20

There will be a 36M concrete pour starting at 1:00 pm, which is not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm. 

Thursday, July 21

No concrete pours are scheduled at the time of posting (July 15).

Friday, July 22

No concrete pours are scheduled at the time of posting (July 15).

Drill Rig Delivery & Off-loading – July 15

Friday, July 15, sub-contractor Deep Foundation will be delivering a drill rig to the 1 The Esplanade site. It will be floated in at The Esplanade Gate just immediately west of Scott Street.

This float will arrive between 9:30 am and 11:30 am via Scott Street.

Unfortunately, pedestrian and vehicular traffic will be impacted when the float arrives and the drill rig is off-loaded. However, it is crtical ensure public safety while the drill rig is being delivered and off-loaded. The float will be escorted by Toronto Police Service vehicles.

Silo Installation July 14

On Thursday July 14th a storage silo will be delivered to the L Tower site.

The previously planned 3-hour Temporary Street Occupation is no longer required for the silo installation.

The silo will be used to store ready made (delivered to site) masonry mortar for block work.

The silo will eliminate the need for weekly deliveries of sand, skids of bagged masonry cement and also eliminate the need for an on site mortar mixing machine.

The silo will arrive on a flat bed truck. There will be a need to close the lanes to manoeuvre it in place.

The silo will remain on site till the late summer or early fall of 2012 when the form work is expected to be completed.

Monday, July 11

8 The Esplanade – L Tower

  • A 45M concrete pour not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm.

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking & Backstage foundation

  • Sub-contractor, GFL Excavating will be running one dump truck all day building a ramp, entering and exiting through The Esplanade gate.
  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation has one concrete truck for guide wall. Access at the Esplanade gate.

Tuesday, July 12

8 The Esplanade – L Tower

  • 45M concrete pour not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm.

1 The Esplanade – L Tower Parking & Backstage foundation

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will have 2 tractor-trailer loads delivering drill rig components. The construction management team is seeking to use Market Street access for this.

Wednesday, July 13

8 The Esplanade – L Tower

  • 45M concrete pour not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm.

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will have 2 semi tractor trailers delivering pile steel and one float delivering the drip rig. The construction management team is seeking to use Market Street access for this.

  • No concrete pour scheduled as of today.

  • Sub-contractor, Deep Foundation will be drilling caissons. Three concrete trucks will be accessing the site via The Esplanade gate.

Please note: that while there will be some unavoidable short-term delays for vehicular and pedestrian traffic along The Esplanade from Scott Street west to Yonge Street, no temporary street closure permit applications are planned for this week.

Temporary Street Occupation 25 Yonge Street July 6

In order to allow the safe operation of Wednesday’s concrete pour at the L Tower, City of Toronto Transportation Services has issued a Temporary Street Occupation Permit for municipal address 25 Yonge Street. Permit #64161601.

Wednesday, July 6 – 10 am to 3:00 pm

This will involve the closure of the east sidewalk and the curb lane of Yonge Street, between The Esplanade and Front Street East.

Note: 3 paid duty officers will be on site to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Monday, July 4 – 36M concrete pour not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm.

Tuesday, July 5 – UPDATED: There will be no concrete pour on Tuesday.

Wednesday, July 6 – A single lane Temporary Street Occupation application for Yonge Street has been re-submitted to the City of Toronto to facilitate a 200M+ concrete to pour utilizing a concrete pump. If City of Toronto Transportation Services deem this lane occupation to be necessary to ensure the safe operation of the planned 200M+ concrete pour, it will go forward and copies of the permit will be distributed adjacent businesses and residential buildings.

PLEASE NOTE: The July 6 concrete pour is now not expected to go past 7:00 pm.

Thursday, July 7 – 81M+ concrete pour not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm.

Friday, July 8 – 54M+ concrete pour not expected to go beyond 7:00 pm.
